Cocktail recipe

Navy Grog recipe.

Navy Grog is tropical, layered and far more balanced than a sweet party drink, with White Rum, Dark Rum, Demerara Rum and Lime Juice giving the drink a clearer flavour story and a more useful reason to make it.

Navy Grog

Description

What makes Navy Grog worth making is the way its flavours move across the glass. The danger with tropical drinks is that they can become all juice and no direction. Here, White Rum, Dark Rum, Demerara Rum and Lime Juice give the serve a clearer shape: fruit for generosity, acidity for snap and spirit for warmth.

The result should feel abundant and sunny, but still balanced enough that you want a second sip rather than a glass of syrup.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Light Rum
  • 30 ml Dark rum
  • 15 ml lime juice
  • 15 ml Grapefruit Juice
  • 15 ml Honey syrup
  • 60 ml Soda Water

Instructions

  1. Shake all ingredients except soda water with ice.
  2. Strain into a tall glass filled with crushed ice.
  3. Top with soda water and garnish with a mint sprig.
