Description

Hotel Nacional earns its place in the glass by keeping the idea clear. The recipe combines White rum, Pineapple juice, Apricot liqueur, lime juice, and Sugar syrup. Fresh acidity gives the drink its shape, while sweeter and aromatic ingredients round the edges rather than masking the base.

Serve it very cold as a first drink, a weekend cocktail or a lively round with friends. Taste before serving and make small adjustments; balance is easier to preserve that way.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml White rum
  • 30 ml Pineapple juice
  • 15 ml Apricot liqueur
  • 15 ml lime juice
  • 10 ml Sugar syrup
  • Ice
  • lime

Equipment needed

Cocktail Shaker – Used to chill, dilute and integrate the cocktail before serving. Muddler – Useful for gently pressing herbs, fruit or sugar when building the drink. Fine Mesh Strainer – Use for a polished double-strain when citrus, fruit or herbs are shaken.

Instructions

  1. Add the white rum, pineapple juice, apricot liqueur, fresh lime juice and sugar syrup to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake hard until thoroughly chilled.
  3. Fine strain into a chilled coupe.
  4. Garnish with lime and serve immediately.
