Rum Punch

Description

Rum Punch is less a single recipe than a whole way of drinking: rum, citrus, sweetness and fruit served generously. A good version should taste sunny and rounded, with orange and pineapple giving tropical body, lime adding bite and grenadine bringing colour and a soft red-fruit finish.

The danger with rum punch is making it too sweet. The best glass has balance: enough rum to feel warm and aromatic, enough citrus to keep it lively, and enough fruit to make it feel like a party. It is made for sharing, but it should still taste like a proper cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Dark rum
  • 50 ml Light Rum
  • 75 ml Orange juice
  • 75 ml Pineapple juice
  • 20 ml lime juice
  • 10 ml Grenadine
  • 1 piece Pineapple Slice (for garnish)
  • 1 cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Add both rums, orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake well until chilled.
  3. Strain into a glass filled with ice.
  4. Garnish with a pineapple slice and cherry.
