Description

Firefly Cooler is the sort of drink that makes sense from the first sip. The recipe combines Vodka, Elderflower Liqueur, lemon juice, Cucumber slices, and Soda Water. Bubbles keep the serve open and refreshing, so the richer or sweeter elements stay light on the palate.

It fits naturally into aperitif hour, garden drinks, parties or any round where you want flavour without a heavy finish. Use fresh ice and serve promptly so the texture and aroma arrive at their best.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Vodka
  • 15 ml Elderflower Liqueur
  • 20 ml lemon juice
  • 3 pieces Cucumber slices
  • Soda Water to top
  • Ice
  • 1 piece Lemon twist

Equipment needed

Bar Spoon – Used to stir the drink smoothly with ice before serving. Muddler – Useful for gently pressing herbs, fruit or sugar when building the drink. Bottle Opener – Useful if the serve uses bottled soda, ginger beer or sparkling wine.

Instructions

  1. Gently press the cucumber slices in a shaker to release their fresh aroma without pulverising them.
  2. Add the vodka, elderflower liqueur and fresh lemon juice with ice, then shake briefly until cold.
  3. Fine strain into a highball over fresh ice and top with soda water.
  4. Stir gently and finish with a lemon twist.
