Miso Espresso Old Fashioned

Miso Espresso Old Fashioned

Description

The Miso Espresso Old Fashioned is a dark, glossy cocktail that gives the classic Old Fashioned a deeper, more brooding edge. Bourbon brings warmth, oak and vanilla, while espresso adds roasted bitterness and intensity. Maple syrup softens the drink with a rounded sweetness, and white miso adds a subtle salted depth that makes the finish feel richer and more complex.

The miso is not there to dominate. It works quietly in the background, deepening the whisky and balancing the sweetness in the same way salt can make chocolate or caramel taste more intense. Chocolate bitters tie the bourbon and espresso together, giving the whole drink a smooth, after-dinner feel.

This is a brilliant cocktail for drinkers who enjoy Old Fashioneds, espresso cocktails and darker flavours. It is bold, polished and quietly unusual, less sweet than many coffee cocktails, more complex than a standard whisky serve, and perfect for slow sipping.
