Mexican Coffee is built around tequila, coffee liqueur, hot coffee, giving it a clear identity from the first sip. This drink is not a dusty museum classic; it feels like a modern house serve designed for people who want a cocktail with a point of view.

What makes it great is the balance: the base brings structure, the fruit or aromatic element gives personality, and the chilled serve keeps everything crisp. It has enough theatre for a cocktail menu but remains simple enough for a confident home bartender.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Tequila
  • 15 ml Coffee Liqueur
  • 90 ml Hot coffee
  • Lightly whipped cream
  • garnish
  • Ice

Equipment needed

Bar Spoon – Used to stir the drink smoothly with ice before serving. Muddler – Useful for gently pressing herbs, fruit or sugar when building the drink.

Instructions

  1. Warm the serving glass with hot water, then discard the water.
  2. Add the spirit, sweetener and citrus or spice elements to the glass.
  3. Top with hot water, coffee, cider or wine as required and stir gently.
  4. Garnish neatly and serve while warm.
