Description

The Japanese Cocktail was created by Jerry Thomas in the 1860s and is one of the earliest recorded cocktails.

Despite its name, the drink has no direct connection to Japan, but rather, it was named in honor of a Japanese delegation visiting the United States.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Brandy
  • 10 ml Orgeat Syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Instructions

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a lemon twist.

An elegant stemmed glass for shaken or stirred cocktails served up.

120–240 ml Stemmed glass with a broad shallow bowl.

Best for: Daiquiri, Sidecar, Manhattan served up, Gimlet, Clover Club.

Garnish: Great for expressed citrus peels, cherries, and small edible flowers.
