Tuxedo

Description

The Tuxedo is a martini variation with a slightly more mysterious wardrobe. Gin and dry vermouth give it the familiar dry structure, but maraschino liqueur, orange bitters and a hint of absinthe add perfume, sweetness and a faint herbal shadow.

Named for the Tuxedo Park Club in New York, it feels like a drink from a more formal era, but it still has plenty to say. It is elegant, aromatic and quietly complex, especially when served very cold with a restrained garnish.

Ingredients

  • 25 ml Dry Vermouth
  • 5 ml Maraschino Liqueur
  • 1 dash Absinthe
  • 2 dashes Orange Orange bitters

Instructions

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a cherry.
