Description

The Gin Basil Smash was created in 2008 by Jorg Meyer in Hamburg, Germany. This modern classic combines gin, lemon, simple syrup, and fresh basil leaves, giving it a bright, herbal flavour.

The drink gained popularity due to its simplicity and refreshing taste, making it a favourite among gin lovers worldwide.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Gin
  • 25 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml Simple Syrup

Instructions

  1. Muddle fresh basil leaves in a shaker.
  2. Add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  3. Shake well and strain into a rocks glass over ice.
  4. Garnish with a basil leaf.
