Thai Basil Gimlet

Description

Thai Basil Gimlet treats Thai basil as an aromatic seasoning rather than a sweet novelty. London dry gin provides juniper and citrus, fresh lime gives the necessary snap and Thai basil cordial adds peppery anise-like perfume.

The result is short, cold and focused. It should finish drier than a typical fruit cocktail and smell vividly herbal before the first sip.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Gin
  • 25 ml lime juice
  • 15 ml Thai Basil Cordial
  • 1 leaf Basil Leaves (for garnish)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Add gin, lime juice and Thai basil cordial to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake hard for 12 seconds.
  3. Fine strain into a chilled coupe.
  4. Clap a fresh basil leaf lightly between your palms and float or clip it as the garnish.
