Description

What it is: A deliberately over-the-top long drink layering vodka, Southern Comfort, orange juice, sloe gin and Galliano.

The story: Its name is a mnemonic built from its ingredients and cocktail-family references: sloe gin supplies the ‘Slow’, Southern Comfort the ‘Comfortable’, vodka and orange form the ‘Screw’, and Galliano provides the ‘Wall’ through the Harvey Wallbanger connection.

Why it works: Fresh orange juice keeps the drink bright while sloe gin adds berry depth and Galliano contributes anise, vanilla and herbs. The visual bleed of the sloe gin is part of the fun, so do not mix the final layers too aggressively.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Vodka
  • 15 ml Southern Comfort
  • 90 ml Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 15 ml Sloe Gin
  • 15 ml Galliano
  • 1 orange slice

Instructions

  1. Fill a Collins glass with fresh cubed ice.
  2. Add vodka, Southern Comfort and fresh orange juice, then stir briefly.
  3. Pour the sloe gin slowly over the surface so it begins to bleed through the orange layer.
  4. Float the Galliano gently on top.
  5. Garnish with a fresh orange slice and serve without fully mixing the layers.
