The Ratatouille Rouge

Description

The Ratatouille Rouge works best when it is treated as more than a list of ingredients. Red wine, chambord and basil give it a flavour story that is easy to understand but not boring. The best version has a clear beginning, middle and finish: aroma first, then sweetness or fruit, then enough acidity or bitterness to clean up the sip.

That makes it useful for home mixing because it feels generous without needing complicated technique.

Ingredients

  • 120 ml Dry Red Wine
  • 20 ml Chambord
  • 4 leaves Basil Leaves
  • Soda Water to top
  • 1 piece Lemon twist

Instructions

  1. In a wine glass filled with ice, add Chambord and muddle gently with basil leaves. Pour in red wine and stir. Top with soda water for effervescence. Garnish with a basil sprig and lemon twist for a Parisian touch.
