Description

The Southside is a classic cocktail with a bright and crisp profile, often described as a gin-based Mojito. Its origins are debated - some claim it was the signature drink of the South Side of Chicago during Prohibition, while others suggest it originated in New York at 21 Club.

The drink combines London dry gin, fresh lime juice, mint, and simple syrup, creating a smooth, herbal, and citrusy balance. It is sometimes served on the rocks, but the traditional version is shaken and strained into a coupe glass.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml London Dry Gin
  • 25 ml lime juice
  • 15 ml Simple Syrup
  • 7 mint leafs (gently muddled)
  • 1 mint sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Gently muddle the mint leaves with simple syrup in a shaker.
  2. Add gin, lime juice, and ice.
  3. Shake well and fine strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a mint sprig.
