Description

The Scorpion is a classic tiki cocktail known for its bold mix of rum, brandy, citrus juices, and orgeat syrup. Originally created in the 1930s by Trader Vic, a pioneer of tiki culture, the drink has variations ranging from single servings to large communal Scorpion Bowls. This cocktail is fruity, slightly nutty, and strong, striking a perfect balance between sweetness, acidity, and boozy depth. It is a great choice for tropical drink lovers who enjoy the complex layering of spirits and citrus flavours.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Light Rum
  • 30 ml Brandy
  • 60 ml Orange juice
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml Orgeat Syrup
  • 8 ml Simple Syrup
  • 1 orange slice (for garnish)
  • 1 mint sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Fill a shaker with ice.
  2. Add the rum, brandy, orange juice, lemon juice, orgeat syrup, and simple syrup.
  3. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds and strain into a tiki mug or large rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish with an orange slice and a mint sprig.
