Description

The Sazerac is a historical cocktail from 19th-century New Orleans, featuring rye whiskey, sugar, Peychaud bitters, and an absinthe rinse. Known for its bold, aromatic character, it is served in a chilled glass. The Sazerac embodies the essence of classic American mixology and offers a taste of cocktail heritage.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Rye whiskey
  • 5 ml Absinthe (for rinse)
  • 1 piece Sugar Cube
  • 2 dashes Peychaud Bitters
  • 1 piece Lemon twist (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse a chilled rocks glass with absinthe and discard the excess.
  2. Muddle the sugar cube with a few drops of water in a mixing glass.
  3. Add rye whiskey and Peychaud bitters, then stir with ice until chilled.
  4. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
