The Rum Swizzle is a vibrant, rum-based cocktail that originates from Bermuda, often referred to as its national drink. The Swizzle Inn, the oldest pub in Bermudas, is credited with popularzing this refreshing and complex cocktail.
A Swizzle is both a drink and a method named after the traditional swizzle stick, which was used to mix cocktails by rapidly stirring with a twig from the quararibea tree. The Rum Swizzle blends light and dark rum, citrus juices, falernum (or simple syrup), and aromatic bitters, creating a rich, tangy, and spiced profile perfect for warm weather.
Instructions
Fill a highball glass or tiki mug with crushed ice.
Add dark rum, light rum, lime juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, and falernum (or simple syrup).
Add 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Swizzle the drink by rapidly stirring with a swizzle stick (or a bar spoon) until well-mixed and frothy.
Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.
