Kir Royale

Kir Royale
Kir Royale

Description

The Kir Royale is an elegant French aperitif cocktail, a variation of the classic Kir, which is made with white wine. It is named after Felix Kir, a former mayor of Dijon, France, who popularised the drink. The Kir Royale elevates the traditional recipe by using Champagne instead of white wine, making it a favourite for celebrations and special occasions.

The drink is beautifully simple yet sophisticated, with the rich blackcurrant flavour of creme de cassis balancing the crispness of the Champagne. Its deep red hue and delicate bubbles make it visually stunning and deliciously indulgent.

Ingredients

• 15 ml creme de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur)
• 120 ml Champagne (or another dry sparkling wine)
• Fresh blackberry or lemon twist for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Pour the creme de cassis into a chilled Champagne flute.

Slowly top with Champagne, allowing it to mix naturally.

Do not stir, as this preserves the bubbles and natural layering effect.

Garnish with a fresh blackberry or a twist of lemon, if desired.
