Cocktail recipe

Grasshopper recipe.

Grasshopper is velvety, soft and more grown-up than it looks, with crème de menthe, white crème de cacao and single cream giving the drink a clearer flavour story and a more useful reason to make it.

Grasshopper

Description

The charm of Grasshopper is in the contrast: familiar flavours, but with enough shape to make it memorable. The point is texture as much as flavour. Crème de menthe, white crème de cacao and single cream create a soft, rounded drink, but the best version still has enough spirit and aromatic detail to avoid becoming a milkshake. It should feel plush, not cloying.

A small garnish or spice note helps the finish, giving the richness somewhere to go after the first sip.

Ingredients

  • 25 ml Creme de Menthe
  • 25 ml White Creme de Cacao
  • 25 ml Cream (single cream)
  • Ice
  • 1 mint sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Shake the liqueurs and cream with ice until very cold.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or small coupe.
  3. Garnish with a mint sprig.
